Winx is truly a work of art as wondermare is immortalised in street mural

Racing is often accused of lacking street cred, but two graffiti artists in Australia have gone some way to changing that perception by immortalising the country’s pin-up girl Winx in a work of art.
They are not the first people to pay homage to the wondermare in a unique way – New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum named his favourite bat after his favourite horse – and their efforts have been recognised by Winx’s trainer Chris Waller, who has accepted an invitation to visit the mural.
Speaking in a Racing.com video, one of the artists said: “It’s a great way to immortalise her in an area close to where she has won three Cox Plates [at Moonee Valley in Melbourne].
“She’s an amazing horse for the amount of races she has won and the joy she brings to people in racing and those that may not be into the sport.”
Earlier this month Winx, who has won her last 25 starts, returned to Waller’s stable following a break, with the trainer eyeing a mid-August return for the start of a campaign that has the ultimate aim of an historic fourth Cox Plate success in October.
