Ray Hadley will auction off a piece of sporting history on Saturday in a bid to raise money for brain cancer.

Family and friends of renowned Channel Nine Sports Executive Matt Callander have rallied together to organise a charity fundraiser after the former NRL boss, a man Ray describes as a “great fella,” passed away from the devastating illness last year.

The Matt Callander Charity Race Day at Randwick on Saturday could see one lucky bidder take home the saddle that Winx wore to her third Cox Plate victory.

The incredible piece of memorabilia has been generously donated by Winx’s champion jockey Hugh Bowman.

Winx’s trainer Chris Waller tells Ray Hadley it’s “unbelievable”.

“For Hugh Bowman to donate his saddle that he sat on for the Cox Plate was really special.

“It’s amazing to see how small they are.

“They’re a half-tonne animal going at a very fast speed and that’s all Hugh’s got to keep in contact with the horse.”
