Champion mare Winx hasn’t been beaten in her past 10 runs over the Randwick mile but Saturday will bring another special milestone in her career as she attempts to win a world record 23 group 1s in the Chipping Norton Stakes.

The amazing equine athlete is heading into retirement after the autumn, but trainer Chris Waller in still in awe with the way she is holding her form, even after 30 straight victories. As usual, she has taken improvement from her first-up win – in the Apollo Stakes – two weeks ago.

Waller knows that the end is getting closer with only the George Ryder Stakes and Queen Elizabeth Stakes left on Winx’s schedule after Saturday.

“It is a case getting the rest of the prep out of the way and making sure she stays trouble-free. I haven’t started counting down the days but I’m counting down the runs,” Waller said.
