A fourth Cox Plate is indeed getting closer for superstar Winx with the mare stationed just a few kilometres from The Valley after arriving safely in Melbourne on Monday.

Trainer Chris Waller said in a release on Tuesday that Winx was joined on the trip from Sydney to his stables at Flemington by his rising star The Autumn Sun as well as Invincibella, Youngstar and Another Dollar.

Waller said the stable was pleased with how all horses came through the float trip.

“They will all have a relatively easy few days before we look to step up their workload at the end of the week in preparation for their next starts,” he said.

“In reference to Winx, we plan to host a media morning next week.

“I am very pleased with the way she came through her last start and this was evident in a strong piece of work last Saturday at Rosehill.

“She was ridden by Hugh Bowman and he was extremely happy with the way she felt and I could not have been happier with her condition and body language subsequent to this gallop.”

Winx is expected to run next in the $500,000 Group 1 Turnbull Stakes at Flemington on October 6, giving her three weeks until her much-anticipated tilt at a fourth Cox Plate victory.

The Autumn Sun, fresh from his stirring victory in the G1 Golden Rose at Rosehill last Saturday, is the firm favourite for the $2 million Caulfield Guineas on October 13.
